Towson partners in first-ever Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day

CASE ASAPOn Thursday, Feb. 28, Towson University will unite with nearly 70 educational institutions to participate in the first-ever Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day.

The initiative is designed by CASE Affiliated Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) to increase student understanding of philanthropy and campus engagement.

Institutions from the United States, England, Canada, Australia and other countries will participate in the event through various activities, including “thank-a-thons,” day-long social media campaigns and student video interviews on what giving means to them.

Towson’s Presidential Ambassadors will work with university staff to launch a social media campaign designed to educate students on the importance of charitable contributions to their campus experience and education and to give them an opportunity to say thanks.

“We are excited to partner with CASE ASAP to increase student awareness of the importance of philanthropy, and to nurture the special connection they have with alumni and friends of the university,” says Gary Rubin, Towson’s vice president for university advancement.

“It is never too early to begin engaging students in the act of giving back.”

Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day is part of CASE ASAP’s goal to foster and enhance student involvement in all areas of advancement—including fundraising, alumni relations, communications and marketing.

“It’s important that students start taking steps to become the next group of philanthropic leaders,” says Rob Henry, CASE’s executive director of emerging constituencies. “On February 28, we celebrate the value students bring to their institutions with their time, talent and treasure.”
