House of Cards’ Beau Willimon visits Towson

House of Cards premiered on Feb. 1, 2013.

The mind behind the ruthless Senator Frank Underwood, the ambitious reporter Zoey Barnes and tragic Congressman Peter Russo is coming to speak in Van Bokkelen Hall on Wednesday, April 24 at 12:30 p.m.

Beau Willimon, show-runner for the hit series House of Cards, will discuss the production of the show and his role in developing the American political drama. An Academy Award nominee, Willimon helped craft the acclaimed adaptation from a BBC miniseries into the first original series for Netflix.

Starring Kevin Spacey and Kate Mara, House of Cards follows a U.S. senator’s efforts to exact revenge on his political opponents. The show premiered on Feb. 1, 2013, and has been renewed for a second season of 13 episodes that are currently in production.

The event is free and open to the public. The Department of Electronic Media & Film of the College of Fine Arts and Communication sponsored the event.
