Tigers claw Wildcats to improve to 6-0

Junior running back Terrance West ran for 238 yards on 28 carries and scored three touchdowns as our undefeated Towson Tigers football team defeated New Hampshire, 44-28, Saturday afternoon at Unitas Stadium. In winning their 10th game in a row going back to last season, the Tigers had to overcome an early deficit Saturday as the visiting Wildcats started strong. After UNH stunned Towson (and a large, sun-drenched crowd) by taking a 20-3 lead in the first nine minutes of the game, the Tigers scored 41 consecutive points to grab a 44-20 advantage late in the third quarter. The Wildcats added a final touchdown late in the fourth quarter after the outcome was no longer in doubt.

While West ran for 238 yards, senior quarterback Peter Athens completed 22 of 33 passes for a career high 343 yards and two touchdowns. Freshman running back Darius Victor added 57 yards on 10 carries, as the Tigers accumulated 731 yards of total offense to set a school record.

Towson returns to Unitas Stadium next Saturday to host CAA rival Villanova at 7 p.m. as part of Homecoming festivities.
