Swimming and Diving rolls past Old Dominion

Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams topped the Monarchs Saturday at Burdick Pool. With the wins, the women’s team moves to 5-0 and the men’s team to 4-1 on the season.

For the women’s side, the Tigers continue their run of dominant early season performances. With Saturday’s victory, the team has now begun the season at least 5-0 for six straight years dating back to the 2008-09 season.

For the men’s side, the Tigers are setting pace to have their best season in years. The team’s fourth meet victory matches the program’s most wins since the 2006-07 season.

Both teams are back in the pool at George Mason next weekend when the Tigers face the GMU Patriots and the College of Charleston.

Volleyball tallies conference win over James Madison

Three Tigers tallied double-digit kills as Towson earned its first win of the season in the Colonial Athletic Association, topping James Madison 3-0. The Tigers finished the match with an impressive .315 hitting percentage to tally victory at SECU Arena Saturday night.

“We’ve been searching for that win for a long time,” said Towson head coach Doug Metil. “We put ourselves in position before to get a win and had some error issues but it was nice tonight to see the team work through those previous errors and get that first CAA win.”

Field hockey falls on the road to Hofstra

The Tigers’ Kelly Mattingly and Kate Williams each found the back of the net, but the Pride’s offensive flurry was too much for Towson in a 5-2 final score. Tied at two goals a side early in the second half, but Hofstra rattled off three straight scores to pull away.

The Tigers face the Drexel Dragons on the road on Nov. 3 in the team’s season finale.
