President Loeschke announces leave of absence for fall term

Maravene Loeschke, president of Towson University, has issued the following statement to the campus community:

President Maravene Loeschke thumbDear members of the Towson University community:

Due to health and personal challenges, I regret to inform you that I am taking a leave of absence from my position as president of the university, effective today through December.

University System of Maryland Chancellor Brit Kirwan has approved my leave and has appointed TU Provost Tim Chandler as acting president. Since joining our community as provost and vice president for academic affairs in January 2013, Tim has been an effective and enthusiastic partner in our efforts to build on Towson University’s reputation as one of the nation’s best public regional universities. Vice Provost Maggie Reitz will assume the responsibilities of acting provost for the fall semester.

I am confident that under Tim’s leadership, our community will continue its forward momentum. During this period, I ask that you give Tim your support and cooperation as he continues to move Towson University forward. Go Tigers!

Looking forward to seeing you soon,

Maravene Loeschke, President, Towson University
