Moving in? Here is all the information you need for the weekend

Students will overrun Towson’s campus this weekend, as the fall semester is getting ready to begin.

The most exciting weekend of the school year is upon us as thousands of Tigers descend on the Towson University campus for the annual move-in weekend.

Students will be settling into their homes for the next nine months, and the Towson campus will be brimming with different events over the next four days.

The festivities start on Saturday, Aug. 22 as TU welcomes first-year students with its “Welcome to Towson” program: events around campus to help the transition for students to coming to campus for the first time.

  • Orientation WelcomeSaturday, 9 p.m. at SECU Arena.
All first-year students are required to attend this event. Orientation Welcome is provided to introduce new students to college life and to Towson University.
  • Taste of Towson: Sunday, 7 p.m. at West Village Commons, 4th floor.
One of the many benefits of going to school at Towson is the awesome selection of local eateries off campus but close by. At “Taste of Towson,” you’ll have the chance to experience a small sample of all Towson’s culinary community has to offer.

Students will need a wristband to enter. Wristbands will be distributed by RAs and OLs during the Residence Hall Community Meetings and the Commuter and Off-Campus Student Cookout on Saturday.

  •  Convocation: Monday, 4 p.m. at SECU Arena.
New Student Convocation marks the official beginning to the student academic experience and is a required event for all new students. All students must wear the shirts they receive at check-in.
  • Set it Off!: Tuesday, 5 p.m. at Tiger Plaza. Presented by the Center for Student Diversity and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
All new and returning students are invited for food, music, performances, games and prizes. Meet new friends, reconnect with old ones and learn about multicultural student organizations and Greek Life.

First-year students will move in on Saturday morning/afternoon and have been assigned to three time frames alphabetically by last name to help minimize congestion:

  • A-F: 8 – 10:30 a.m.
  • G-M: 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • N-Z : 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Continuing and returning students will move-in on Sunday and Monday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. both days.
