U.S. News & World Report again ranks Towson among top public regional universities

u-s-news-world-reportThe U.S. News & World Report 2016 America’s Best Colleges guide ranks Towson University 12th in its Top Public Schools – Regional Universities (North) category, placing it among the best of the 48 institutions surveyed.

The university occupies 53rd place in U.S. News’ list of 131 rankings of private and public regional institutions in the North.

Last year’s (2015) rankings were 15th and 60th, respectively.

In addition, TU is included in America’s Best Colleges’ Best Colleges for Veterans, placing 39th among 50 public and private regional institutions in the North. These are the top-ranked schools in the 2016 Best Colleges rankings that participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active-duty service members apply for, pay for and complete their degrees.

“Once again Towson University has been nationally recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best public institutions in our region and featured for our success in supporting veteran and active-duty students,” said Timothy J.L. Chandler, interim president. “This ranking not only rewards our longtime efforts, but also reaffirms our commitment to ensure a supportive and inclusive academic community that gives every student the highest quality experience possible.”

The university’s educational efforts continue to advance toward individualized, personal education for each student and a goal of supplying the best return on investment for its baccalaureate and post-graduate degree earners. With four doctoral programs and 75 master’s degree or post-baccalaureate certification programs in addition to its wealth of diverse and often unique undergraduate majors, Towson combines the best of both the research-based and comprehensive academic worlds.
