For its last stand in the Towson Center, in a game that was as close as it was historic, the men’s basketball team of Towson University emerged victorious against Hofstra on Saturday, claiming the team’s 18th win of the season and clinching the record for the largest single-season turnaround in NCAA history.
A season-high crowd of 4,119 stormed the court after the win, which pushed the Tigers to a 17.5-game improvement over last year’s 1-31 team.
The 67-64 victory also propelled the Tigers into second place in the Colonial Athletic Association, its highest conference finish and its most victories since 1993-94, when the team finished 21-9 and won the Big South Conference title.
