Towson University expects to award 2,684 baccalaureate degrees, 611 master’s degrees and certificates, and 18 doctoral degrees at its 148th Commencement on Wednesday, May 22; Thursday, May 23; and Friday, May 24 on campus at the newly constructed Tiger Arena.
The six commencement ceremonies will mark the public debut of Towson’s newest athletics venue, as it welcomes thousands of graduates, parents, relatives and friends, as well as university administrators and faculty and staff leaders.
The new home of the university’s basketball, volleyball and gymnastics teams broke ground nearly two years ago, and features 5,200 seats, state-of-the-art court and training facilities, and an enhanced fan experience.
President Maravene Loeschke, Provost Timothy Chandler, and faculty and staff leaders, will be on hand to celebrate the students, as will featured speakers that include members of the Towson University Student Government Association, Towson University Alumni Association, University System of Maryland Board of Regents, and undergraduate and graduate student representatives.
The ceremony for the College of Business and Economics will also feature P.M. Forni, an author and scholar specializing in civility, as he receives an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the College of Liberal Arts.
All commencement ceremonies will be streamed live on the TU Commencement website.
