The world-famous Harlem Globetrotters will make history at Towson University as the first-ever sporting event in the brand new Tiger Arena.
The Globetrotters will bring their unique brand of family entertainment to Towson for three games in three days beginning Wednesday, June 19 through Friday, June 21. All games begin at 7 p.m.
“We are excited to have the world famous Harlem Globetrotters as the first public ticketed event at Tiger Arena,” says Towson University President Maravene Loeschke.
“The Globetrotters offer stellar entertainment that appeals to a wide audience. We couldn’t think of a better way to introduce our brand new, state-of-the-art arena to the community.”
In the fall, Tiger Arena will become the new home to Towson’s basketball, gymnastics and volleyball teams. The building broke ground nearly two years ago, and features 5,200 seats, state-of-the-art court and training facilities, and an enhanced fan experience.
“The anticipation of Tiger Arena’s grand opening, combined with our style of high energy family entertainment, will make June 19-21 three days to remember,” adds Kurt Schneider, Globetrotters CEO.
The games will be a continuation of the Globetrotters’ 2013 “You Write the Rules” World Tour, where fans can select the rules they want to see in each game. New rules include playing with two basketballs at once, getting double the points for each basket made and more.
The Original Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating their 87th consecutive year, continuing a long tradition of ball handling wizardry, basketball artistry and one-of-a-kind family entertainment. Proud inductees of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, the Globetrotters have entertained hundreds of millions of fans—among them popes, kings, queens and presidents—for more than eight decades.
Tickets are available now via Ticketmaster, the Tiger Center box office, the Globetrotters official website or by phone at 800-745-3000.
