Running back Terrance West has been named the CAA Pre-Season Offensive Player of the Year.

Seven Tigers were selected Pre-Season All-CAA, including West, fullback Emmanuel Holder, tackles Eric Pike and Randall Harris, linebacker Monte Gaddis, and cornerbacks Jordan Love and Tye Smith.

CAA coaches and sports information directors voted to select the team and pre-season projections.

The Tigers won the CAA for the first time in the program’s history in 2011. Last season, finishing 7-4 overall, 6-2 in the conference, the Tigers earned a share of the CAA crown, ending the season in a tie with New Hampshire, Richmond and Villanova.

Six different teams have captured the CAA championship in the last six seasons. The Villanova Wildcats were picked to win the conference this season.

“If you don’t bring your ‘A’ game every week and you don’t train that way to bring your ‘A’ game every week, in our league no one looks past a game. We never look to next week ever, or else you will get your face beat in this week. And that’s what you want. You want to be challenged by the best week in and week out, and that’s how you become the best,” Towson head coach Rob Ambrose said at CAA Media Day to The Baltimore Sun.

The Tigers open their season on the road against the University of Connecticut from the Big East on Thursday, August 29. Towson’s first home game is against Delaware State on Saturday, September 14.
