The Tigers, who are 10-2 on the season, are making their second appearance in the FCS playoffs in the last three years. Ranked in the top ten all season, Towson closed out the regular season with back-to-back wins over William & Mary and James Madison to earn the seventh seed in the post-season playoffs.
Towson was one of eight teams to be seeded for the FCS playoffs and received a first-round bye. Defending national champion North Dakota State (11-0) is the top seed while #2 Eastern Illinois (11-1), #3 Eastern Washington (10-2) and #4 Southeastern Louisiana (10-2) were also seeded. In addition, #5 Maine (10-2), #6 McNeese State (10-2), #7 Towson and #8 Montana (10-2) earned seeds and first-round byes.
The winner of the Towson-Fordham game will compete in the FCS quarterfinals on Dec. 13 or 14 and face either Eastern Illinois or Tennessee State at a site to be determined. The FCS semifinals are scheduled for Dec. 20 or 21, and the FCS championship game is scheduled for Jan. 4 in Frisco, Texas.
