Towson University will provide free transportation to the WTMD 89.7 FM First Thursdays Concert in the Park on Thursday, August 7.
The fourth installment in the concert series, held at Canton Waterfront Park in Baltimore, begins at 6:30 p.m. and will feature JD McPherson, The Whigs and Moon Taxi.
The free concert series recently moved from its previous site in Mount Vernon to Canton Waterfront Park, and has garnered larger crowds than ever before. While last month’s concert was canceled due to weather, more than 12,000 people attended the show in June.
Baltimore magazine awarded the venue move the best “Change of Scenery” award in this month’s Best of Baltimore issue.
From the magazine:
“Though the crowds have increased at the new grassy space, organizers responded with more beer tents, food trucks, and local vendors. Now the concert series (featuring acts like The Hold Steady and Joan Osborne) has the feel of a bona fide music festival — all still for free.”
The free shuttle will transport students, faculty and staff, as well as their significant others, from the campus of Towson University to Canton Waterfront Park. The shuttle will depart from the Union Garage Shelter, outside the ground-level Faculty/Staff area, at 5:15 p.m. and arrive in Canton at 6 p.m., in time for the concert which begins at 6:30 p.m. The concert will end around 10 p.m., and the shuttle will depart at 10:15 to return to campus.
Those who wish to ride the shuttle must reserve a seat. Seats are limited and only available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so early registration is highly recommended.
