Another Towson University alum has hit the big time! Brandon Broady, class of ’08, will host a new BET daily comedic variety show called “The Xperiment,” premiering this Monday, March 2 at 5 p.m.
According to the Baltimore Sun, the show will feature celebrity guests, parodies and comedic sketches, video clips and viewer participation, among other segments. The article also includes a video clip of Broady’s stand up act.
Broady, an acting and film double major, was featured in the LA Sentinel in an article that highlighted the success he has had in comedy and television in both Los Angeles and Washington, DC.
The Silver Spring, Maryland native found his path in high school when the former athlete took to the stage. Throughout his four years at Towson, he did standup comedy and open mic nights at clubs in DC. and Virginia.
After turning an internship at WPGC 95.5 in DC into a part-time job and then a position as an on-air radio personality, Broady moved to LA to further his career. Networking and producing popular comedy sketch videos led him to auditions for web series and TV shows.
A stalled project at FUSE TV turned into a hosting job for BET, including several episodes of “106 & Park.”
Broady is confident about his future, which includes plans for a college tour and a comedy album.
“The only way I can fail is if I allow myself to do so,” Broady said. “We live in a day and age where you can control your destiny. Through social media and video upload sites, you don’t have to wait for anyone to give you an opportunity. You have the power to create content and let the world see your abilities.”
