Towson University will host “Preparing for Public Education in the 21st Century,” the latest in the successful Signature Forum speaker series, on Tuesday, April 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the West Village Commons ballrooms.
Tuesday’s forum will be hosted by TU Presidential Scholar and former Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nancy Grasmick and will feature a moderated dialogue between charter school advocates and school administrators who have opposed the expansion of charter schools.
The panel will feature the following subject-matter experts:

- Theresa Alban, superintendent of Frederick County Public Schools since July 2011. In 2012, the FCPS system ranked first among Maryland’s 24 school districts by the Maryland State Department of Education on its school performance index.
- David Warnock, senior partner with Camden Partners, a Baltimore-based private equity firm. He has over 25 years of investment experience and focuses on the business and education sectors.
The panel will be moderated by Liz Bowie, state and local education reporter for The Baltimore Sun.
