The stage is set, and the pomp and circumstance are ready for one of the most momentous commencement weeks in Towson University history.
Beginning Wednesday, May 20, the university expects to award bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, as well as post-baccalaureate certificates, to 3,504 soon-to-be Towson alumni.
The ceremonies will take place as the university begins its official year-long celebration of its 150th year in higher education. It is a particularly profound correlation with those students who have been working for years toward their degrees.
Marked by theĀ first champagne toast Monday evening for graduating seniors and their families, and by the official opening of the Legacy Walk across campus Monday afternoon, this spring’s graduates will have much fanfare surrounding their already highly anticipated ceremonies.
Interim President Timothy J. L. Chandler and Interim Provost S. Maggie Reitz will confer degrees upon the graduates as they walk across the stage Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The full schedule of spring ceremonies includes, as usual, a separate celebration for each of Towson’s six colleges.
Grads can also follow the celebration on Facebook via the Towson University and Towson University Alumni Association pages, as well as Twitter on @TowsonU and @TowsonUAlumni. Tag tweets on Twitter and Instagram with #towsonALUM and #TU150. Follow @TowsonUniversity on Instagram for inside looks at the grads as they prepare to walk across the stage and after they receive their degrees. Video of the ceremonies will appear on the university’s commencement Web page.
