Although the theater world celebrated the Tony awards for excellence on the stage last Sunday, this week Towson garnered two 2015 Telly awards for its excellence onscreen, winning bronze for the “Theatre Arts at Towson University” and silver (the highest) for the “Forensic Anthropology at Towson University” videos.
The Telly Awards, founded in 1979, are the premier awards honoring local television and online commercials and videos. The 2015 competition had nearly 12,000 entries from all fifty states and five continents. A panel of over 500 industry professionals served as judges, awarding approximately 25 percent of entries the bronze Telly and less than 10 percent the silver Telly.
Filmed by DeCarlo Brown, edited by Ron Santana, and narrated by senior Caitlin W. and Professor Tomi Casciero (Theatre Arts) and sophomore Zakkiyya R.-C. and Professor Dana Kollmann (Forensic Anthropology) the videos showcase just two of the high-quality programs in the College of Fine Arts and Communication and the College of Liberal Arts.
