Towson University’s Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics‘ Science Education Professor Ronald Hermann, Ph.D., will discuss public schools and the “E word”–evolution—at the Smithsonian Institute.
Hermann’s work has focused on the experience of students who do not believe in evolution, as well as how students can understand the concept of evolution without necessarily believing in it. Hermann will provide a brief history of how the controversial subject is taught and learned in public schools, and then will open the floor for questions from the audience.
The HOT (Human Origins Today) Topic lecture, which is free and open to the public, will take place at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History‘s Hall of Human Origins/One Species, Living Worldwide Theater on Friday, August 28 from 4-5 p.m.
