Why go home this Labor Day weekend, when you can stay on campus and check out all the cool events during LaborStay Weekend? The campus will host block parties, fun games, bus trips, contests and so much more to help you celebrate your three-day holiday weekend.
It all begins Friday with “Towson Feet on the Street,” which gives students the opportunity to explore the Towson area and includes live music, activities, prizes and food.
Rather stay on campus? Spend your Friday night right at “Dec Out Your Dorm,” at the University Union. Students will be able to work with photo booths, airbrush artists and the perfect Pintrest crafts to take their dorm décor to the next level.
On Saturday, start the day off with a ball in the “Bubble Soccer Tournament.” Featuring giant inflatable “ball suits” that players wear around their body, the tournament will take place at Burdick Field starting at 3 p.m.
The TU football team opens its 2015 season on the road this Saturday, but you can still have a great time cheering them on at Bill Bateman’s Bistro. The game starts at 6 p.m., but get there early to grab your seat, as one lucky student will win the opportunity to win free books for a semester at the Tigers’ home opener next Saturday, Sept. 12. Students can also win an iPad, a Towson Gameday Basket, gift cards to local restaurants and plenty more.
After the game, head over to West Village Commons for the “Cultural Block Party.” There will be a DJ and performances by the Towson University Greek Community.
On Sunday, students can get off campus and explore the nation’s capital with a Bus Trip to Washington D.C. Student tickets are available at the University Union Box office for just $10. Tickets for non-students are $15.
LaborStay Weekend will close out with a bang on Monday with the “Battle Royale: H20” water war, which starts at 2 p.m. on Newell Field and will feature free Rita’s Italian Ice.
A comprehensive schedule of events and more details are available at the LaborStay website. You can also keep up with all the events through the Student Activities’ Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
