Towson University Professor Nicole Dombrowski-Risser joined host Dan Rodricks and Muslim-American commentator Faheem Younus during WYPR’s “Midday with Rodricks” on Monday, January 12 to discuss the recent terror attacks on Parisian satire magazine “Charlie Hebdo.”

A French scholar, author and professor of history in Towson’s College of Liberal Arts, Dombroski-Risser shared her thoughts regarding religion and culture, freedom of the press and the massive demonstration Sunday in the French capital. She also responded to local callers who shared their thoughts on the subjects.

After Dombroski-Risser provided a brief political and social history of France over the last 50 years, the commentators spoke about the “Je Suis Charlie” and “Je Ne Suis Pas Charlie” movements as well as the portrayal of Muslims and Islam in popular culture.
